“I arrived late and tired on a Friday evening. Suzanne made me very welcome and within minutes I felt very relaxed and comfortable in their lovely home. The rooms are done to an excellent standard, the bed comfortable, and breakfast the following morning was just what was needed to set me up for the day.
Suzanne and Graham are a lovely couple, and I would strongly recommend The Old Railway Yard for anyone looking to stay in the area. I would have no hesitation in going back!”

“Thank you so much Graham and Suzanne for making our stay so perfect. The room was amazing, breakfast was first class and your company and making us feel so welcome definitely made us want to come back. “We stayed last October for three nights & would recomend The Old Railway Yard B&B to anyone wanting fist class accomodation. Sue & Graham made us feel as if we were at home the breakfast was first class, as for a rating we would give it 6 out of 5.”

“We could not have found a better to place to stay for our flying visit to Cornwall. Everything was absolutely perfect and I only wish we could have stayed longer to do some sightseeing. Such a warm, friendly and helpful atmosphere and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to all my friends. I hope we can make a return visit later in the year. Thanks for everything.”

“Spent a couple of nights here and would have gladly stayed much longer. A very warm welcome awaited me although I arrived rather late. The b and b has a real "home" feeling, with clean good sized rooms individually decorated and well maintained gardens and grounds.I enjoyed a tasty full english breakfast in the morning but there are other options as well. The house was designed and built by the owner which is highly impressive, clearly someone who has thought about what it means to create a home. I have referred the place to friends and family.Highly recommended.”

“My sister Sally and I just wanted to thank you for such a marvelously hospitable welcome to your delightful house, and to tell you that you have the best accommodations - and splendid food - and just about everything else! We had a great time.
I meant to leave my business card with you just in the rare event you or any of your friends might enjoy a visit to France some time in the future, so I thought I'd send you my website anyway, which is:
It's a delightful placed to 'chill out' and being so close to the beaches and all the other fun stuff in that area, a great place for children as well.
Once again, our sincere thanks for a delightful stay.
Cheers, Nikki and Sally”

“Our third visit to this fanstatic house and once again superb hospitality from Suzanne and Graham. Forget using the tourist information , Graham and Sue have all the knowledge and recommend lots of places . And sue even told me what footwear to wear when visiting some of the rocky coves . Thank you to both of you once again who have now become really good friends. We will be back !”

“A big thank you to all our guests for all your testimonials, now friends for taking the time to write a review on our own website and trip advisor. We have met many lovely people over the past few years from all over the World and all over the Country. Our repeat guest list is proof to our service we offer. We try our upmost to make everyone feel at home whilst away from their own home. Our last review thanking our guests, anticipated our next project. This was to install a hot tub under cover for all year round use. We have now completed this and it is free for all to use making your experience a little more special whilst staying with us, so don't forget your swimsuits!. Thank you to past and future guests. Graham & Suzanne”

“The best B&B we have ever stayed at. We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Old Railway Yard. The hospitality was first class and the accommodation outstanding with views of the sea from the roof terrace The best B&B ever experienced where you can also watch the sun go down with a glass of your favourite vino. When we were there the owners were deciding where to position the new jacuzzi which I had a bit of input in. Sue and Graham are an incredibly warm and friendly couple who made us feel part like old friends. We cant wait to return in a few months. Highly recommend a stay here for just a short break in one of their lovely rooms within the main house or for a longer period in the adjacent 2-bed holiday let also done out to an outstanding standard which I understand can be rented over the winter period at a cracking rate (£650 per month).
The house is on a quiet road so all rooms are quiet. The premium room downstairs where we stayed has parking right outside the room. this room has its own entrance. Both shower and bath available with both cooking facilities and fridge available which we found useful. The bed was a super king so very comfortable.””
“Blissful relaxation and the warmest of welcomes"...After an exhausting day I arrived to such a kind welcome, a cream tea and a lovely room. The shower was hot and powerful and instantly adjustable, the tub was huge. The rooms were spotless and pretty, with everything I needed, including space to stretch out and relax. The owners can be justifiably proud of the lovely oasis they have created. After a wonderful night's sleep - it is very quiet - I really appreciated the excellent breakfast with many locally sourced products including tasty bacon and sausages and free-range eggs. The place is full of really nice, thoughtful touches and the two best features are the hosts ! Thank you very much for a wonderful stay. I hope to be back!”
“Could'nt be better!! My brother and I stayed here at short notice due to a family illness. The accommodation itself is a very high standard, more like a compact 5 star hotel than a B&B, very clean, very comfortable, very elegant but also homely and welcoming. The icing on the cake are Graham and Sue, the hosts, nothing is too much trouble, there is always a warm welcome and a smile as you walk through the door and Graham's breakfasts are a sight and taste to behold! There are lovely views from the bedrooms and although there is a feeling of being in the 'country' the property is superbly situated for visiting all areas of Cornwall. I would recommend this B&B to anyone, single, couples, families.”

“I stayed in The Old Railway Yard B&B earlier this month, (April 2014), & I thoroughly enjoyed it! Both Suzanne & Graham were fabulous hosts & nothing was too much for them. They went over & above to help us out! The rooms were nicer than any hotel I've stayed in as they had that homely feel to them; you felt you were in a home away from home! The house has a variety of rooms to choose from in both sizes & prices, but the garden room, which is separate to the main house, but still only a stone's throw from the main house, is amazing. From the decor to the finishings, everything is top of the range, modern, cosy, & worth every penny! Plus, the amazing views from the rooms over the green hills & heading towards the sea are worth the visit. If it's a nice night you can even jump in the hot tub in the back garden! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay & would definitely recommend it to anyone & I hope to return myself some time in the near future.”
“Yer tis, heart lush, 3 lovely days at Sue and Grahams, cream tea, lovely room, lovely people, clean everything you can think of, WiFi good, good size telly, not that I used it much, too busy enjoying the hot tub, wine and banter till gone 11, 2nd time here back next year, when you can pop up to Bristol, more wine!!!”

“I simply can’t recommend staying here highly enough. I traveled from Ireland for my first ever trip to Cornwall last month and was so delighted as staying at the ‘the old railway yard’ with the two TOP hosts Sue & Graham totally enhanced my whole experience of Cornwall.
Upon arriving we sat down to homemade scones and clotted cream and jam (YUM!) and had our first chat with the lovely and ever so bubbly Sue and soon after we met Graham who treated us to a super breakfast both mornings.
The house and gardens are beyond gorgeous and our bedroom and bathroom were STUNNING – absolute immaculate and very luxurious. But even more special was the treatment we got there. Nothing was a problem. Flight boarding tickets with printed, fast-track tickets to the ‘Eden project’ were booked and ready for us (and Graham even drove us to the pub for the night of our friends birthday bash). It felt like staying with friends or family! .. and I haven’t even mentioned the hot-tub experience yet. It’s is an absolute must!
Sue and Graham are absolute gems and after a short 3 days, leaving I felt I wanted to return to them as much as to their beautiful Cornwall! Thank-you SO so much for a trip to remember! Dee – Ireland. xx”
“Thank you so much, Sue & Graham, for your wonderful hospitality......we will certainly be recommending your facilities to our relatives & friends in the Redruth area and beyond!
Your beautiful home was like staying in a 5 star hotel, you deserve huge success with your venture; your B&B is a real labour of love!

“Unfortunately we only had one night at this lovely B & B but we would certainly go back.
It is very comfortable with warm, friendly hosts & can be thoroughly recommended.
Well placed for sightseeing. We are only sorry that they could not have accommodated us for longer.”
Lynne & Clive, Halstead
“Hi Mike, Thanks for the review. I am glad the old book of Redruth arrived ok, I am sure your family will find it interesting reading. Your time tracing your family history was a great success and I am so glad I was able to help along the way, what a coincidence you chose our B&B from the other side of the world, that I was once a blacksmith and was able to help with a little local history knowledge. I am a champion of Heartlands, our local historical mining centre, the few sessions I have been on certainly paid off! Best regards, Graham Collier”
“Graham and Sue have set up a very comfortable and well appointed Bed and Breakfast at Lanner Hill just outside Redruth. Their hospitality is superb, and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful Cornish breakfast they provided each morning, as well as the occasional Cornish cream tea. I particularly found Graham’s knowledge of the history of Cornwall and the local area a great resource.
I stayed at the Old Railway Yard B&B for two nights in late June, and I enjoyed my stay so much that I stayed for another two nights in early July after I did a five day walk on the Coast Path from Portreath to Penzance, which was spectacular. I went to Cornwall to connect with my heritage – my great grandfather came from Redruth, emigrating to Australia in 1886. I wanted to get the feel of where he came from, but while I was there I did some research and discovered that he had been a blacksmith apprenticed to his father at Illogan Highway. With the help of an old 1880’s map of the area from the Cornwall Centre, I was able to locate the site of his father’s smithy, and to stand on the spot where my great grandfather grew up – what an amazing feeling!
Serendipitously, Graham was a blacksmith before he retired to build and run his B&B. He fabricated many of the steel grates now covering disused mine shafts around Cornwall to prevent accidental falls. My great grandfather and his father probably fabricated steel work for these same mines. Graham is also somewhat of a history buff and has many books of old black and white photos of local the area from the late 19th and early 20th centuries – mining and tramway operations, social life and the like. He also advised me on places of historical interest to visit in the local area. I had many interesting conversations with Graham.
I highly recommend spending a few days with Graham and Sue at the Old Railway Yard B&B.”

“OWNERS COMMENTS - We would just like to say a big thank you to all our guests for taking the time to post their wonderful reviews. It inspires our future guests to feel safe in the knowledge they are coming to somewhere that is as good as it sounds. We try our best to make our guests feel like friends and the proof is in the many repeat friends we have returning. It has been a learning curve for us along the way listening to our guests and making changes to improve our standard from butchers bacon and sausages to a complimentary cream tea. Our next plan is the purchase of a jacuzzi for all to use, once installed we will let everyone know to bring their swimming costumes, even in the winter! So once again "A big thank you to you all" Graham & Suzanne”
“Thank you Graham and Sue for an excellent stay at the Old Railway Yard last week. Everything was excellent - the house, guest room and bathroom, breakfast, cream tea on arrival and not least your genuine hospitality and friendliness.
The house is a credit to you both - and built by a former blacksmith!! Brilliant.
We anticipate further visits as long as we need to come to Cornwall, and without question we will always check your availability first, and hopefully not need to look anywhere else.
A point you could add to your website is to emphasise the locally sourced bacon, sausage and eggs etc: the best bacon I have eaten for a long time.
The hot tub will only enhance anyone's stay with you.
Well done and thank you both again.”

“We stayed for a week in the adjoining self catering property ( Tramways Cottage) and would recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in Cormwall. The cottage is immaculate, has everything you would need and is ideally placed to visit many tourist attractions and beaches in the area. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We were given a "tour" of the bed and breakfast property which again seemed to be of a very high standard.”
Colin & Mandy Byers, Southampton
“What a great place to stay. We stayed in the double room downstairs and it was exceptional. The whole place was immaculate and we would definitely visit again. Breakfast with Sue and Graham was lovely.”

“If Carlsberg did Bed & Breakfast...
I recently stayed at the Old Railway yard for 10 days whilst looking for rented accommodation in area. Sue and Graham are legends, they looked after me, dropping me off at the local train station and picking me up again. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always willing to help in any way they could. Evening meals were excellent and the variety of dishes Graham produced were exceptional. I can't recommend them enough, I arrived as a guest and left as a friend.
Probably the best B&B in Cornwall...”
Simon Leach, Oxford
“I recently visited Cornwall with my husband and three friends for a wedding weekend. We chose The Old Railway Yard initially because it was close to the wedding venue however: our choice was finally based upon reading the numerous shining reviews written about it online.
Graham and Sue welcomed us to their B&B like good friends, and looked after our every need throughout our stay. The house was beautifully clean and homely, and to our surprise almost completely built by Graham himself. The room my husband and I stayed in was very well equipped with everything we needed: including the loan of a wedding tie that had been forgotten in our haste. It was exceptionally clean and very nicely finished: we even had the use of a small communal lounge, which was ideal for our group of five.
Breakfast was ordered in the evenings for convenience and was served when we wanted it. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked on all three mornings of our stay - with an excellent cup of freshly made coffee to accompany!
Sue and Graham were professional and extremely accommodating, even providing us with a complementary Cornish cream tea during our stay.
I would without doubt recommend The Old Rail Yard to anyone visiting Cornwall; this lovely, very reasonably priced B&B was an ideal base for us while exploring this very green and pleasant land!”
Emma Rose, Brighton
“Sue and Graham,
Thanks ever so much for your hospitality...especially for helping us find a place to get our tire replaced. Taylor's was very helpful with that, and we were on our way very quickly. We have very fond memories of our Cornwall stay.
All the best to you from the sisters three.”

“Visiting Cornwall for four days, we decided to stay at the Old Railway Yard B&B - what a good choice ! The rooms are of a high standard as were the delicious breakfasts and beds. Sue and Graham were ideal hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Should we be lucky enough to visit Cornwall again, then we shall return.”
Sue and Diane, Redditch (Pensioners)
“We stayed two nights at the Old Railway Yard with our two teenage children and were very impressed with everything: the welcome; the rooms including decor, fittings and views; the breakfasts. In addition to the two bedrooms there is also a lounge with television and DVD player which was ideal for spending the evenings in. We hope to go back soon.”
Mark and Julie, Wotton under Edge
“We went back, because we are fascinated from the house and the friendliness and helpfulness of Sue and Graham. They picked us up and brought us back to the railway station. We enjoyed their good breakfast. The rooms are friendly furnished and very clean. Our rate: Excellent!
The B&B is an good base to visit several interesting places nearby.”
Gabi & Rainer, Germany
“Graham and Sue were welcoming and hospitable on short notice resulting in us extending our visit to a memorable two night stay. A delicious breakfast after a good nights sleep in a lovely comfortable room makes this B & B highly recommendable.”
Tom & Jean Carlson, Victoria, B.C. Canada
“A must place to stay - definitely 20 out of 10 - warm, kind and friendly hosts made us feel right at home. Very informative on local and district attractions and awesome views of both coasts from the roof top - spectacular at sunset.”
